Owner & Sim Racing Mentor

Frank Kalkman

Frank grew up surrounded by racing games and karting tracks thanks to a father who took him to circuits where even Michael Schumacher still raced. That spark for real motorsport evolved into sim racing, where he combines his passion with technical precision.

Quick Overview

  • F1 and rally fan since childhood, now active sim racer
  • Started with a Logitech set, now building his dedicated sim room
  • IT professional who translates analysis into better rigs

From Living Room to Virtual Grid

The first races were literally between the couch and coffee table, with a Logitech set that moved with every oversteer correction. Every upgrade was meticulously logged: what provides more confidence, where do you lose feedback? Those notes grew into the foundation of MySimRig.

Today, Frank races endurance stints, league races and events at Race Square Rotterdam. He tests hardware as if it's qualifying: focused, analytical, and with the goal of giving other sim racers an honest answer to the question: does this really work for me?

Trackside memories: F1 and Dutch rallies remained the inspiration for his sim races.

From Grandstand to Telemetry

Frank attended multiple Formula 1 races and Dutch rallies with his father. Watching from the fences how drivers turned in taught him exactly where the speed was. He now uses that same focus to analyze telemetry from sim races and fine-tune hardware.

By day, he's known as an IT professional for his attention to detail. In the evenings, he translates those skills into setups, software tweaks, and coaching for other sim racers. Hobby and work flow seamlessly together. You'll feel that in everything he builds for MySimRig.

Frank's Checklist for Every Sim Rig

  • Comfort: adjustable ergonomics for 90+ minute stints
  • Feedback: predictable force feedback that builds confidence
  • Growth: a path from starter to pro without wrong purchases
  • Community: sharing setups and knowledge so everyone gets faster
